This is the second edition of the games that are played every first Sunday of the month, pitting different companies against one another.

Eleven new companies are expected to rake part this season, taking the tally to 40 from 29 last year.

Twenty-five of the 40 companies were represented on the first out and it is highly expected that the other 15 will turn up on day two.

They will compete in several sporting disciplines until November and the winners will be crowned at an awards’ dinner in December.

On the opening day, the companies competed in five games including 7-aside football, Chess, Tug of War, Woodball and spelling bee.

Amongst the day’s games, Spelling bee was the only new activity and it was won by Uganda Retirement Benefits Authority with 20 point

The other games including Athletics, swimming, cycling, darts, paintball shooting will be played in the second outing next month (April).

With the games also aimed at saving lives, Sunday also saw blood donation throughout the day.

It is an activity that happened once last year and it remains to be seen whether the donation will be embraced once again this season.

“We have a new game called the spelling bee. We hope that corporate companies keep fit and keep healthy in these games and also use it as a platform to team build, get to know each other and be efficient and work.

“We inspire employees of different corporate companies through sport, networking, visibility, publicity is what companies get at the end of the day.

“We also have media partners who give us a platform for the companies to sell out their ideas and what they do to help push their brand.”

Jamil, Namboole Managing Director.

“We joined the corporate games as quickly as possible and as a company we need to exercise and be healthy.

“As Mandela Stadium, we have the mandate to promote sport. It’s a privileged to join the games and I wish all teams to the best. I also want to thank the fourth estate who are the media.”
